After graduating from Loyola Marymount University, John began his business career in Las Vegas, Nevada where he started his own commercial real estate company in 1994. After 8 years building the company into the number one commercial real estate brokerage firm in the state, John and his partners sold the company to Colliers International. After selling the company John took a position with The Pauls Corporation as an Executive Vice President responsible for large industrial and office park developments in San Diego, Denver, Detroit, and Las Vegas.

After relocating his family back to Southern California, in 2005, John started his second commercial real estate firm Coldwell Banker Commercial – South Bay, which specifically focused on industrial and port-related shipping and container storage real estate in and around the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. John grew the firm to the number one company doing on-dock and off-dock port transactions in LA County and exclusively represented several of the largest shipping companies in the world, including Maersk, China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO), and Evergreen Lines.

John sold his business in 2011 and began investing in real estate transactions and developments. In 2012, John, along with partners, purchased Synergy Oil & Gas in Long Beach, California. John led Synergy as the CEO in the state’s largest oil and gas expansion project in the last 50 years, successfully receiving the first new oil and gas drilling permits and associated processing facilities in the California Coastal Zone.
